"The Roar Before the Rolex 24" began yesterday, and the countdown to 24 Hours of Daytona has begun. In the three official test days leading up to the famous endurance race, Porsche will be preparing the new 2016 911 RSR and the new 911 GT3 R for battle. The Rolex 24 is the opening race of the IMSA SportsCar Championship season.

Last year, the 911 RSR won all three championship titles. It will be returning this year, with new improvements, looking to defend its reign. The GT3 R will be making its racing debut, and features a new ultra-modern 4.0-liter six-cylinder engine with direct fuel injection.

“It’s always exciting to bring a new car to the racetrack and officially present our new vehicle design to the public," said Marco Ujhasi, Overall Project Manager GT Works Motorsport. "Today, we have taken the first steps towards setting up the new 911 RSR with its aero updates to the track.”
